Blast from the Past...

Most of you know, or may not know, or actually may not even care that I grew up in Oklahoma City. We did not come to Texas until I was 16 years old.
Every so often a tune comes into my head from when I was a kid, and 40 years later I can remember every word of the B.C. Clark Jewelers Anniversary Sale Jingle.
Why? I really don't know except that there probably was not a single Christmas season since I was very, very young that this song did not play on the television many times a day.
That was back in the time when there were only 3 real TV channels in OK City: 4 was NBC, 5 was ABC, and 9 was CBS. 13 (PBS) was nearly always there, but we didn't watch it that much.
So, this tune is running endlessly through my brain this evening which gives me the thought to google BC Clark Jewelers in OKC. It comes up on Wikipedia as being known for the famous jingle that was written for them in 1956. Since I am brought into the world in September 1957, I hear this song every year almost from the day I am born.
Weird I know, but doesn't everyone have something like that? Some little tie to the old days that brings up the feelings of childhood?

A 21 year old American student is, for some reason, protesting the Israeli use of force against an Islamic flotilla that was aggressively vying for a confrontation with the Israeli government.
The Obama administration is making a huge mistake siding against Israel.
I don't think that Israel has as high a tolerance of hippies as the United States.

She's lucky to be alive, and she should be gratified that Israel apologized at all.

And did you know...

That Obama has sent Holder (Eric Holder, US Attorney General) to start collecting information for civil suits and criminal prosecutions against BP?
That may be necessary later, but perhaps it would be best if he (Obama) just got out of the way and let this leak get plugged before they start hauling people into federal court and in front of Congress. Statutes of Limitations are long, and there will be plenty of time to play the blame game. It seems to me that getting this thing stopped should be the priority for BP and the Obama Regime.

I hate to see this...

As most of you know, I am not a big Al Gore fan, but I hate to see people throw away 40 years of marriage, especially after what they have been through together. You would think that, after some amount of time, you could feel secure in that relationship. I guess I don't get it. He is 62 and she is 61. Perhaps these days, that is young enough to start over again.

And did you know...

That official Whitehouse physicist Stephen Chu ordered the topkill stopped on the bleeding oil well in the gulf. Suddenly, he became fearful that the pressure from the heavy mud might cause another problem somewhere else.
Where?
What problem?
A bigger problem than thousands of barrels or oil flowing into the Gulf of Mexico each hour?
A bigger problem than the bankrupt fishing and shrimping industries?
I get this from CNN, and no, I don't watch CNN. I stumbled across this on the internet.


Also, last week Obama got a wild hair to visit a solar panel plant. He wanted to do it on a regular production work day, so the employees that build these solar panels were all told to take the day off without pay because the layout of the plant was too much of a security risk. All of those people had to give up a day's pay so His Majesty could have a photo op at a solar panel plant. Good call, Mr. President!

Those Clintons are at it again...

I always get a kick out of the involvement of that former President Clinton and the current Secretary of State, his erstwhile wife.
First of all, Bill is taking that fall for Obama on the Sestak bribery scandal from the Whitehouse. They are saying that Bill Clinton offered Sestak an unpaid position on a Presidential advisory council if he would not run in the primary.
HUH?
What kind of a bribe is that? Why in the world would they think that a guy would pass up a solid chance at a Senate seat for an unpaid position on some presidential council? Talk about backtracking to cover your tracks. And of course, Slick Willy is more than happy to cover for the Obama Whitehouse since his wife's job is on the line.


Then we have Mrs. Clinton, your Secretary of State holding the Brazilian system of taxation up as an example of how we should be. What was her statement? Oh yeah, "the rich are not paying enough in taxes." (I guess like they do in Brazil.)
Hillary, taxes are monies that are actually paid to the federal government, just in case you weren't clear on that. How much money have you hidden in your foundations? Let's see, there is $10 million in the Bill Clinton Memorial Library and Massage Parlor. That's $10 million tax dollars that you deprived your government of. That's $10 million they are going to have to get from somewhere else. But wait, there's more: Hillary had a secret foundation that they had stashed $5 million in prior to 2008. She decided that she probably should disclose that foundation during her run for the presidency in 2008. By the way, aren't those foundations supposed to pay money to support the purpose of the foundation? I hear that Hillary's foundation paid nothing last year in gifts or endowments or whatever you call contributions from a "foundation".


And finally, leading up to the person who holds the leashes of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Obama has accused BP of not being transparent in disclosing all of the ramifications of their efforts to stop the oil leak. Nice, since the Obama administration is about as transparent as a block of granite when wielding their strongarm Chicago political tactics, such as offering jobs to Congressmen who indicate a desire to unseat an incumbent liberal democrat Senator.
