January Cruises are Highly Recommended

We set out on January 6, 2008, for a 7 day tour of the Caribbean on the Carnival Conquest sailing out of Galveston.

A good picture of the lobby bar on the ship. It was a gorgeous ship.
The Conquest had a Mardi Gras theme complete with copies of Impressionist paintings on the walls as murals. Monet, Renoir, Manet, Gaugin, and Van Gogh to name a few.

We leave Galveston behind in the mist.
And sail into the sunset.
This is the map of our course on deck 5 of the ship. Three days to sail from Galveston to Jamaica. Wednesday in Jamaica, Thursday on Grand Cayman, and Friday in Cozumel.
Hello, Montego Bay, Jamaica. The view from Montego Bay into the Gulf.

A marching band arrives to see us off in the evening.
The airstrip in Jamaica where planes come in low over the water.
Our room steward made great towel animals, but we could not figure out what this was. I think it is a seal. The medal is part of the prize I received for winning the Trivia contest on the ship.
The midnight buffet is a sight to behold. Lots of food related art...or art related food.
I will have to post the pictures from Grand Cayman later. We took them on a different camera. We spent alot of time on a boat and in the water. We went on an excursion with Captain Marvin where he took us snorkeling and then to Stingray City to swim with those things that killed Steve Erwin.
Here I am during part of our Jeep tour of Cozumel. I am at the ruins at El Cedral. The guide told us the a wish would be granted if you made it while touching the temple. I don't believe in that sort of stuff, but it made a good photo. The burro in El Cedral.
An iguana sitting on a stone fence.
We stopped at a little bar across from a very nice beach to have some beer, chips, and salsa. They had a Coati chained to a pole.
A picture of the gulf while sitting in the bar.
We took this particular photo of our ship docked next to another Carnival ship. We saw this as we were going back aboard after our tour of Cozumel. I really like this picture. It has an artistic quality and a symmetry about it that you don't see so often. I think the ships are identical.
The lights of San Miguel as we sail away from Cozumel back to Galveston.

The last towel animal we found in our room. This monkey was our favorite.

I want to give a big hello to Brenda, Nicki, Dana, Bethel, Max, and Stephen. You were a fabulous group to have dinner with. I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope we meet again.
