I read this story and felt nothing but sympathy for the woman who was the victim. Apparently, she rejected a suitor who promptly poured sulphuic acid over her head blinding and disfiguring her. The assailant was captured, and his punishment is that he will have five drops of the acid put in each of his eyes. Apparently, the punishment has yet to be carried out. I am anxious to find out if it actually occurs. If so, will the AP and DRC report it.
I am not quite certain of the purpose of this story. I think these liberal news outlets want to illustrate the barbarism of this country. If this man really committed this heinous crime, the punishment seems very reasonable.
Does this story make you think of how much our crime rate would drop with more severe and certain punishments for the guilty? Does this story make you hate the barbarism of the middle east? Does this story make you feel empathy for the victimized Iranian people?
