Our local paper does not report local news

For all of you readers of the Denton Wretched Chronicle, after you read the paper, do you know any more about what is going in the Denton and Denton County than you did before you picked up that particular issue?
They seem to stress national and state news, but very little local.
Does anyone know, from reading the Denton [toilet] paper what is going on the commissioners' court or in the courthouse or the Sheriff's Office?
Is that because there is nothing going on? Or is it because they don't want to shine the light there out of fear that the roaches will scurry under the fridge and cabinets?
If I wanted national news, I would take the Dallas Morning News because Belo owns that paper, too.

Well, part of that is that the Fairness Doctrine was done away with and the regulations that allowed only certain amounts of media to be owned by one corporation. I thought you Republicans wanted deregulation in everything. So, that is what you get!! It is all about money and so if they can reprint 10 stories and put the same ones in all of their papers, then they save lots of money. Isn't that what they are in business for!! And, the airwaves that are supposed to belong to the citizens and used to have to give THE CITIZENS some benefits no longer have to. Gosh, it is really frustrating to hear your complaints about government and then not see the other side of it. Believe me I don't like government but 300 million people need some RULES.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." (First Amendment of the United States Constitution)
How can you argue for any regulation of the airwaves or over the subject matter in the face of the direct language of the First Amendment?
The Congress does not have the right to pass a "fairness doctrine" or any other doctrine that abridges the freedom of speech.
Perhaps you should get your dictionary and look up "abridge".
I think you protest against such conservative speech because you can't stand to see yourself in it. Did you ever read "The Picture of Dorian Gray"? As Dorian sinned, his visage in a portrait painted by Satan took on the blackness of each sin until Dorian could not stand to see this true soul. I think you all know that we are right, but you just don't want to admit it.

Please, oh, please, do some research and find out some real information. You are not well informed on this issue. And by the way I am not a liberal.

Kevin, do you understand the legal principle behind broadcast regulation?

1. We own the radio airwaves and frequencies.

2. Anything using our airwaves is subject to regulation.

Whether you agree with it or not -- don't pretend that there is no counterargument.
